Objective

Morphe, an iconic household name in the professional makeup industry, wanted to make professional results possible for the everyday person. Studio collaborated with them to develop a full educational program that included a YouTube series and Reels that aimed to demystify makeup application. Our goal was to bring simple, approachable, and effortless techniques to consumers in a way that empowers them to achieve effortless glam looks with confidence.

The Makeup Lab

No. ② — Eyeshadow, Simplified with Ash K. Holm

We developed The Makeup Lab, an interactive YouTube masterclass series where a Pro MUA teaches techniques in real time. Set in a sleek classroom environment, 2-3 community members follow along step by step, with the artist guiding, correcting, and sharing insider tips along the way, like a cooking or workout class, but for makeup.

Casting was intentional, featuring real community members whose features reflect our target audience and the product solutions being showcased. Each episode breaks down formulas, benefits, and techniques into approachable lessons designed to empower viewers to achieve professional results with confidence.

We produced four episodes for the launch:

To deepen the educational value of the series, we included a Product Development Expert on set for every shoot. Their role was to bring each product’s story to life: explaining key ingredients, highlighting formula innovations, and translating technical product benefits into simple, memorable talking points. This elevated the series beyond technique, positioning Morphe as not only an artistry authority but also a trusted source of product knowledge.

Motion graphics, product overlays, and clear callouts kept each lesson easy to follow. A signature green glass treatment unified the system, making The Makeup Lab instantly recognizable across Morphe’s educational content.

To demystify brush selection and technique, we created a dedicated vertical video series focused on brush education: Brush Guide. With a high-flash, hands-in-action style, these Reels showcase brush-to-product pairings and best-use techniques in an engaging, scroll-stopping way.

Shot separately from full episodes, they became a versatile asset designed to educate, convert, and help customers feel confident choosing the right tools for every look.

To extend the reach of The Makeup Lab, we transformed longform YouTube episodes into snackable shortform content built on three pillars:

Info-Macro Techniques: Tight, high-impact tutorials featuring Pro MUAs performing key techniques on talent. Ideal for showcasing formulas, brush use, and quick “how-to” moments.

Transformation: Punchy supercuts that spotlight the key steps from each episode, designed to drive viewers toward the full YouTube masterclass.

Makeup Lab Talks: Vertical direct-to-camera cuts where Pro MUAs share product insights and solve common application challenges, helping to demystify the artistry.

To give Morphe’s educational content lasting impact, we built a comprehensive Education Playbook, a strategic guide for both current and future initiatives. The playbook defines the goals of Morphe’s education program, establishes a clear art direction, and lays out detailed design guidelines to ensure every video, output, and lesson feels cohesive and on-brand.
